Every so often a commission requires us to travel to a distant destination and orchestrate an event.

During the month of March we had three such events and all of them in the Western Cape. The first one that we would like to share with you was in the coastal town of Knysna, right in the middle of the Garden route.

An old client which had recently re-located to Knysna needed help orchestrating her husband’s 60 TH Birthday bash. She had chosen the spectacularly positioned Simola Golf Estate nestled high above the town in the mountains as the venue to host the party..in wait for it:The Orchid Room.

After an intense two day drive with a precious cargo of R15000 worth of imported , purple cut Vanda orchid stems and other signature Atomic orchid props,we arrived at our dream destination!

Once back at Simola our fragile cargo was styled to perfection on top of guests tables over looking the valley below.

A visit to Knysna is not complete with out Gelato at the Knysna heads whilst enjoying sunset.

Our drive back the following day was a scenic coastal meander en route to Port Elizabeth. The beauty of the Garden route is quite spectacular and as a seasoned forager I simply had to cut a bucket of pink Heather growing wild on the side of the road.

The success of a destination event is 90 % about planning and being prepared, making excellent use of available resources and taking time to enjoy the sunsets, local cuisine and making sure you have the best travel companions!
